Where it all started
Extonbury Music Festival started out as a small private celebration of local artists, first becoming a public event in 2009. Now heading for our 14th year it has become a popular charity music event for the people of Exton and Rutland, showcasing talent from across the region.
Our aims
Extonbury is a charity event raising money for causes close to our hearts. We also want to support the  small businesses which are part of our community and who help us put the festival together. And of course it is a celebration of music given freely by performers of all ages.
This year we're supporting two principal charities

Air Ambulance
As in previous years we are proud to raise funds for the Air Ambulance, a service that should be part of the NHS and yet quite staggeringly receives no government support at all. In a rural county like Rutland, far from emergency medical centres in Leicester, Nottingham & Peterborough the Air Ambulance is a service which quite literally saves lives, whether that be from road traffic incidents, horse riding accidents or quite frequently a mix of the two. 
British Heart Foundation
In January we were shocked to learn of the untimely loss through heart attack of our great friend and stalwart Extonbury supporter Paul Caffrey. A master of understated but powerful bass guitar, over the years Paul appeared with Blue Soul Express, Petrology and Los Cojones and was ever present on the Stamford music scene. He'll be sorely missed and in tribute we're proud to allocate half of our fundraising to the fight against heart disease in all its forms.
